Job Details

Qualifications: 
Employment standards for this facility are consistent with EEOC for all people applying for or holding this position. Education: licensure in State of Iowa required. Must also participate in on­going continuing education. 

Essential Functions: 

1.    Follows established performance standards and performs duties according to nursing service policies and procedures.
2.    Identifies special resident problems and reports them to the charge nurse and/ or the Director of Nursing.
3.    Conducts resident rounds daily and initiates corrective action as necessary. Communicates findings and action taken to the charge nurse and/ or Director of Nursing.
4.    Provides restorative/rehabilitative care by using the guidelines established by the Physical, and/ or Speech Therapists.
5.    Identifies safety hazards and emergency situations and initiates corrective action.
6.    Assists residents in fostering independence through teaching and encouragement in ADL skills (eating, dressing, bathing, toileting, and ambulation).
7.    Reports to the Director of Nursing, charge nurse, and consulting therapists the resident's response to treatment.
8.    Documents specific restorative interventions, progress, or lack of progress on the weekly progress notes and appropriate flow sheets.
9.    Monitors the use of assistive devices, splints, etc., as directed by the Physical and Occupational Therapists, and/ or Physician.
10.    Assists residents in group and/ or individual exercise programs us111g both active and passive range of motion, muscle toning, and ambulation.
