Activities in Action
Hello from the Activities Department,
August flew by with some gorgeous days in it. Hope September is just as nice. We will be doing more golf cart rides throughout the month. In august residents enjoyed a bus trip to resident, Willene Moenk’s family farm. Thank you to the Moenk family for having us at your farm. The votes are in for favorite chicken names! The winners are Daisy and Maisie. For those that would like to see Daisy and Maisie they are located outside at the end of 400 hall. We are happy to see the garden is still producing! Residents enjoyed the tomatoes and kohlrabi during bingo one afternoon.
What describes September more than apples and fall leaves! September’s activity calendar is full of fun activities based around apples and leaves. Some activities include making an apples out of paper plates, having an apple scavenger hunt, creating a wreath made of leaves, making harvest chex mix, making a craft out of legos and autumn leaves, talking a bus trip to the apple orchard, and enjoying some homemade applesauce on the patio.
During the month of September we have a lot to celebrate. National Environmental Services week is September 8th-14th. Please be sure to give our housekeepers a big thank you for keeping our facility looking nice and clean! Grandparents day is celebrated on the 8th of September. We will have some cookies to enjoy by the front fireplace. We encourage families to stop in to enjoy some cookies and give their grandparent a big hug for being so great! Lastly, September is World Alzheimer’s Month. Raising money and awareness for Alzheimer’s is something that is very important because memories matter! Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association by logging onto their website.
