Letter from Leann
Happy October! I would like to thank everyone who helped us raise awareness and money last month to support the Alzheimer’s Association and #ENDALZ. The Monticello Nursing and Rehab Walk Team raised over $1000.00 from donations, a bake sale and our 50/50 drawing. We also participated in the Cedar Rapids Walk to End Alzheimer’s on September 29th, joining hundreds of caregivers, families, friends, and individuals battling this terrible disease. What an amazing morning, filled with love and hope for a brighter future and a much needed cure. Thank you again for your support and generosity.
This month starts out with World Smile Day which is celebrated annually on the first Friday in October. Why would we not celebrate such an awesome day?! As Mother Teresa said, “We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do”. Or motto, “Give a Smile. Get a Smile”. At the end of the month, election officials from the Jones County courthouse will be here to assist residents with their absentee ballots for the November 6th General Election. They will begin delivering ballots on Wednesday, October 31st and are able to help voters if they request assistance.
In October we also celebrate National Physical Therapy Month. We would like to give a big shout-out to Belinda Velasquez, Physical Therapist and Patience Carlson, Physical Therapy Assistant. Thank you for your hard work and dedication, for assisting your patients in reaching their treatment goals and helping so many individuals return home, stronger and more independent.
