Activities in Action

Happy Fall everyone!

Daylight is getting shorter and nights colder! During the month of October, we have many fun activities based around Halloween and Fall themes. Our creative activities include dunkin’ pumpkins, making a pasta mandala, creating candy corn from buttons/gems, and making Halloween necklaces. This month’s bus outing is on Monday, October 25th. We will be taking residents on a drive around Wapsipinicon State Park to see the beautiful changing leaves. Our Happy Hour Halloween Celebration will be on October 30th at 2:15 in the main dining room. Wear your best costume and join the fun for food, drinks, and games. Halloween night we will have window Trick or Treating for the kids from 3:30-4:30 pm. Instead of kids coming inside, buckets of candy will be placed outside resident widows. Our residents are looking forward to seeing the many costumes through their windows so be sure to make a loop around the entire building! The treat bags will be specially made from our residents.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is one of the most diagnosed cancers among American women. I ask both staff and residents to wear pink on Friday, October 22 to show our support for education, advancing research and to honor all those who fought the disease in hopes that one day no one will have to fight it again. Residents will also be making pink hope bracelets in honor of breast cancer awareness. Lastly, I would like to acknowledge Pastoral Appreciation Week which takes place October 24-29. A big thank you to all our spiritual caregivers, ministers, pastors, priest, and volunteers. We appreciate each one of you!

Have a Happy Halloween!
