Activities in Action

Happy Fall everyone!

This month residents will be baking and enjoying lots of delicious goodies. We will be making an edible craft, what-a-hoot graham crackers, apple pie cookies, chunky pumpkin chili, having spooking dip, vampire punch, and pretzel mummy bits during out Halloween party, and a cooking demonstration from our Chef Kevin! Residents will be sparking their creative side by making a colorful corn ledge décor, yarn-wrapped bees, craft stick monsters, mini pumpkin poms, putting together wreaths, and making treat bags for staff and residents. Razzmatazz Entertainment will be joining us for a ventriloquist performance via zoom. We are excited to see this new act!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is one of the most diagnosed cancers among American women. I ask both residents and staff wear PINK on Tuesday, October 13th to show our support for education, advancing research, and to honor all those who fought the disease in hopes that one day no one will have to fight again.

Pastoral Appreciation Week is October 25th-31st. Hopefully we will be able to have church back in the building soon! Church service is something that is very important to our residents. A big thank you to all our spiritual caregivers, ministers, pastors, priest and volunteers. We appreciate each one of you.

Lastly, we are not able to have trick or treaters at Monticello Nursing & Rehab this year. Since we can’t hand out candy this year, MNRC has decided to donate $500 dollars to The Cone Shoppe.  Please feel free to bring your kiddos in their costumes on Halloween to walk around the building for residents to see through their windows. Then the first 500 window visitors will get to enjoy a free cone on MNRC!

Have a Happy Halloween!
