Welcome November,

As the holiday season approaches the activity department is busy, busy, busy. During the month of November, we recognize our Veterans with a Veterans Pinning put on by Above and Beyond. Residents will be making poppy pins for all to wear on Veterans Day. The pinning ceremony will however take place the Monday after Veterans Day. Camp Courageous has been kind enough to invite us to their annual Christmas Party again this year. We will be attending this party November 20th from 1:30-3:00 pm. Please note we will not be having bingo on the Friday after Thanksgiving because both myself and Donna will be on vacation. Instead, we will be playing bingo the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at its regular time, 2:15 pm. Families are welcome to join their loved ones for lunch on Thanksgiving Day. We ask that families please call ahead to reserve your spot. The meal will cost $5.00 per family member. The lunch menu will include: turkey or ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, roll and pumpkin pie.

We will start decorating for Christmas on November 29th starting at 10:00 am. For those of you who have helped decorate for Christmas in our building you know it’s a big task. Volunteers are welcome and appreciated! Lunch will be provided for all those who help decorate. If needed, we will continue to decorate Friday morning at 10:00 am. If you have any questions about volunteering please feel free to call Heather at 465-5415. The angel tree will be put up in the break room the second to last week in November. Each year staff choose a resident “angel” to purchase a Christmas present for. Every resident will receive a present that will be delivered by Santa during our Resident Christmas Party. Community members and families are welcome to donate presents to go towards our “angels”. If you would like to donate a present, please have this to Heather before December 17th.

Looking ahead our Family Christmas Party will be Friday, December 14th from 5-7 pm. An invitation will be arriving in the mail and we ask that families please RSVP by Monday, December 3rd. We greatly appreciate those who RSVP so we know how much food to prepare. For the holiday gathering we will be enjoying heavy appetizers and desserts. Please note we only send an invitation to the Power of Attorney (POA). This does not mean other family members are not invited. Please share the information with others in your family.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Heather Dudley, Recreation Program Director
