Hello from Activities!

With the weather warming up we are getting the residents outside a few at a time and using social distance practices to get fresh air and good vitamin D. We started some seeds this year inside to watch them grow.  We will transplant them into the raised garden beds in a few weeks.  The residents decided on radishes, peppers, sugar peas, tomatoes, kohlrabi, and herbs. We are also hoping to plant flowers around the facility in the next few weeks.

During the month of May we have a lot to celebrate! We start off the month by celebrating Cinco de Mayo on May 5th with a traveling happy hour cart and yummy snacks. May 6th - 12th we will celebrate National Nurses Week. Thank you nurses for all that you do for us at MNRC!!  Sunday, May 10th we are celebrating Mother’s Day with pastries and mimosas for all our wonderful moms to enjoy. We encourage window visits with your mom as long as the window is closed! National Nursing Home Week is May 10th -16th. This week we will celebrate “Sharing our Wisdom” and encourage staff to join in on the many fun activities we have planned such as making wisdom bracelets, Monticello wisdom tree, planting flowers, painting wisdom rocks, guess who I am game, and an owl craft. During this week residents will also make their own photo album. For those that would like to participate we ask that families please send us 5 photos by the 25th of May. You can either send these in the mail or drop them off at the front door.

Donna and I will continue to do 1:1’s with the residents in their rooms and provide materials for self-led activities. Crafts, games, painting nails, listening to music, and overhead bingo are just a few we have planned throughout May. A big thank you to the families and community members for all your donations to make this difficult time a little better. We really appreciate it. Stay Healthy!!
