Welcome Spring!
Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather. This month we celebrate the luck of the Irish. Throughout the month we will be playing games such as penny luck, green trivia, roll a Leprechaun, Pot O’ Gold dice game, and guess the green. We will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday, March 15th with a Sham-Rockin’ Social. As always green beer with be provided at the social along with appetizers, music, and a few fun games. Don’t forget to wear your green! During the month on March we also celebrate Employee Appreciation Day on Friday, March 2nd. To thank our staff, we will be having a potluck in the breakroom and drawings throughout the day.
This month we will be incubating chicken eggs thanks to our Director of Nursing, Kelly. These twelve eggs are located at the end of 400 hall in the activity room. Each day residents will be rotating the eggs three times a day. The chicks will start to hatch around the 20th of March. Easter is right around the corner! Throughout the month residents will be filling Easter eggs with candy for our annual community Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 31st for children between the ages 0-8. The residents love watching the kids gather the eggs they worked so hard to fill! Each year we also put on an Easter Egg Hunt for both the residents and staff. This year the resident/staff Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Thursday, March 20th at 2:15 pm. Staff and residents pair up and search for eggs around the building. The resident who finds the golden egg wins a prize!
The official first day of spring is March 20th. Now that spring is almost here it’s the perfect time to go through residents closets to box away any winter clothes that won’t be worn for another year. With only a limited amount of space in the closet this is helpful for both the residents and staff when trying to find a weather appropriate outfit to wear. This is also a good opportunity to get rid of those clothes that are too big or too small. Let the spring cleaning begin!
