Welcome June!  Last month we observed National Skilled Nursing Care Week.  Celebrating the theme, “Live Soulfully”, and creating activities that are good for the soul, Linda Siebels stopped by and pampered the residents with hand massages.  Thank you so much, Linda.  The residents loved it!  Also, thank you to Dean and Pat Yousse for bringing their farm animals in to share with the residents.  So many of our residents come from a farming family or farmed themselves and it brings so much joy to recall these special memories.  We are excited that we will be getting a couple chickens to care for at MNRC.  The city council recently approved our request for urban chickens and we purchased a small coop that will be located outside at the end of the 400 Hall.  The residents enjoy time feeding and watching the birds and squirrels, and soon, the chickens!

The Alzheimer’s Association’s Longest Day Campaign is June 21st: “the day with the most light is the day we fight”.  Please help us raise awareness and fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s by wearing purple on June 21, 2019.  Alzheimer’s, the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, has no current cure.  However, the Alzheimer’s Association continues to increase awareness and raise money for research. Check out their website at www.alz.org for other ways you can help the fight or to make a donation.
