Pennington Square News
Welcome warmer weather! June is a busy month for us here at Pennington Square and we will be spending lots of time outside. It is important to remember some tips while you are enjoying the warmer weather with your older family members. Seniors are at a higher risk of heat related illness such as heat stroke, heat fatigue, heat syncope (sudden dizziness). Seniors are more susceptible for many reasons such as poor circulation, medications, and the inability to sweat to name a few. It is important to stay well hydrated, stay in the shade as much as possible and try not to be out for extended periods of time especially if you are going to be active like gardening or yard work. If your family member complains of fatigue, dizziness, or headache it is time to go in, drink lots of fluid, place a cold wash cloth on their wrists and back of neck. Most importantly be safe, stay hydrated and enjoy this beautiful weather.
Pennington will be heading out for a Picnic at Riverside Gardens the 12th, and a bus trip on June 21st. We will be heading to the Farmer’s market every Wednesday (weather permitting) at 3:30. The tenant’s will be enjoying campfire and smores out by the gazebo the 8th and 22nd. Lastly, I would like to invite tenant families to join us for “Donuts with Dad” Sunday, June 17 starting at 8:00am. As always, feel free to join us at Pennington anytime.
