Activities in Action
Hello from Activities!
During the month of June, we will be celebrating Fair Week at MNRC June 11-15. The Great Jones County Fair is such a big event in Monticello we like to celebrate our own fair week filled with fun games, food, and contests for both staff and residents to participate in. During this week staff get a chance to win concert tickets to the Jones County Fair by participating in activities. Some of these activities include wheelchair races, a scavenger hunt, frozen t-shirt contest and more. During the fair games we will be serving mini corn dogs, funnel cakes, cotton candy and popcorn. A tradition we like to keep going during fair week is our pie toss fundraiser. This is on the calendar for Thursday, June 14 however we had a unique event offered on that day so the pie toss will be postponed until July. Instead, we will be having a Japanese Taiko Drum presentation outside in the parking lot at 2:15pm. Residents, staff, families and community members are welcome to attend the presentation. There will be no admission cost. To wrap up the week we will be having a baking contest on Friday. Judging will take place at 1:30pm in the main dining room before bingo.
On Sunday, June 17th I would like to invite families to have donuts with dad starting at 9:00 am in the front lounge. On this day you will find a display of pictures capturing our handsome men at MNRC. This month we will also being going on a fishing trip at Camp Courageous. Last year’s fishing trip was such a good time we decided to do it again this year. The trip will take place on Tuesday, June 26. Residents will start loading the bus at 9:00 am. Lunch will be provided at Camp Courageous for those on the trip. We will be arriving back at the nursing home in the early afternoon. If you would like more details about this trip please feel free to contact Heather at (319) 465-5415.
Happy Father’s Day!
