Letter from Leann
Summer is flying by and it’s hard to believe that August is here. This month, Monticello Nursing and Rehab will be participating in the Relay for Life event Friday, August 9th at Dean Nelson Field in Monticello. During the relay, the first lap honors cancer survivors and people currently affected by cancer. The second lap is the caregiver lap for those who have provided support to their loved ones during their cancer treatment. The third lap is the time for all team members to join in and walk this lap together. Team members then take turns walking, having a member on the track at all times throughout the event. Kristin Dirks, CNA and Jamie Dirks Tubbs, Restorative Nurse at MNRC have a loved one who is currently battling cancer, husband/father, Russel Dirks. If you would like to walk with us and support the Russel Dirks family, please meet us at the track. We will be hosting a bake sale in the main area at Monticello Nursing and Rehab on Friday, August 2nd from 1:30pm-3:30pm, so please stop by and pick up some goodies for a good cause. We are also accepting donations now and until the day of the event that can be dropped off at the business office. Please make your checks payable to the American Cancer Society.
The annual Family Fun Night has been scheduled! We have decided to move the event from early August to mid-late September to hopefully avoid the extreme heat that seems to come with the event. This year we will be celebrating the September Equinox, the official end of summer and host an “End of Summer Picnic” on Friday, September 20th. Look for more details in next month’s newsletter and on our Facebook page. Enjoy August!
