Happy April from the Activity Department!

With spring finally here we will be going outside to get some fresh air as much as possible. We are looking forward to taking residents on golf cart rides around town and to get some flowers & vegetables to plant in our raised garden beds. Residents will also be planting seeds in self-watering seed starters this month.

During the month of April, we have many things to celebrate. Easter, Volunteer Week, National Laundry & Linen Week, National Occupational Month, Hair Stylist Month, Administrative Professional Day, and Earth Day. We are not able to hold our Community Easter Egg Hunt this year but look forward to doing so next year! Residents still plan to fill eggs with candy for the community Easter Egg Hunt at the local pool. Residents & staff will have their Easter egg hunt throughout the facility on April 7th at 2:15 pm. The resident that finds the golden egg will win a special prize. To start off the month we will celebrate April Fool’s Day by going over fact or foolery trivia. Throughout the month residents will participate in Easter themed activities! Some of these activities include decorating Easter eggs, making Easter treat jars, making jellybean necklaces, creating a scrapbook egg, baking cereal crunch Easter eggs, and enjoying some bunny lollipops. To get in the mood for spring we plan to make rainy day paper umbrellas. Lastly, we add some science to our calendar with an expanding foam experiment.

March 19th, we started eggs in an incubator! We look forward to watching them hatch around April 9th. We have done this in years past and residents have really enjoyed checking on the chicks and learning what happens every day to the developing chick. You can find pictures of the hatched chicks on our Facebook page: Monticello Nursing & Rehab. If you haven’t already, please like our page to get the latest information and updated pictures.

Have a Happy Easter!
