Activities in Action
Hello from the Activities Department!
August flew by with the weather being so hot we didn’t get out in the golf carts much. Hopefully September’s weather will allow us too! The garden is winding down, but we were able to slice a few tomatoes up.
What describes September more than apples and fall leaves. September’s activity calendar is full of fun activities based around apples and leaves. Residents will be making “Lego” autumn leaves, an apple core craft, and making an owl using their own handprints. Our baking activities include a yummy harvest Chex mix, homemade apple sauce, and apple pie smoothies. Bus trips are back in full swing! This month we will be visiting an apple orchid on Wednesday, September 22nd.
During the month of September, we have a lot to celebrate. Pennington Square celebrates National Assisted Living Week from the 12th through the 18th, during this week we also celebrate Housekeeping Week, and the following week is Rehabilitation Week. Please be sure to give our housekeepers a big thank you for keeping our facility looking nice and clean and our Millennium Therapy staff for working with our residents to gain strength and rehab back home. Grandparents’ day is celebrated on September 12th. Residents will be making grandparent picture frames to display in their rooms. Lastly, September is World Alzheimer’s Month. Raising money and awareness for Alzheimer’s is something that is very important because memories matter! Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association by logging onto their website.
