This year we had staff vote for a King & Queen to represent Monticello Nursing & Rehab at Monticello’s 4th of July Parade. Larry Larson won King & Ruby Drexler won Queen! Be looking for our patriotic golf cart in the parade. To celebrate Independence Day residents will enjoy happy hour with white, & blue skewers and a sweet & bright watermelon cooler drink.
Throughout the month residents will be participating in activity programs related to nature. They will be taking a virtual tour through 25 of the best National Parks, making colorful pom pomp pinecones, creating botanical sun prints, suncatchers, nature bracelets, and remembering camping by making franks & beans, s’mores, and discussing their camping memories. We will also go on a bus trip to Wapsipinicon State Park in Anamosa. July 21st, we will celebrate Hot Dog Day with hot dogs and live music with Clay Willie.
Lastly, do not forget to tune into the Tokyo Summer Olympics this July through August. They officially start on Friday, July 23rd. Residents will be making some Olympic ring art and playing Olympic bingo to celebrate the summer Olympic games.
